Big Trouble in Little China is an action-packed movie with plenty of humor along the way. Kurt Russell plays the lead character who is a fearless tough guy with a good sense of humor. The movie takes place in San Francisco, around the China Town area and includes quite a few scenes with fighting and martial arts.
Big Trouble in Little China is a fast-paced movie. The plot involves Jack Burton, played by Russell, helping to rescue his friend’s fiancée. His friend is Wang Chi, played by Dennis Dun. The fiancée, Miao Yin is portrayed by Suzee Pai. Kim Cattrall is the beautiful attorney named Gracie Law in the movie. Unsurprisingly, she is the love interest of Russell’s character.
The green-eyed beauty was taken by someone in China Town with a strong belief in ancient powers and rituals. They believe sacrificing a green-eyed woman will set them free from a curse placed upon them. There is also a love story unfolding between Russell and Cattrall’s characters with plenty of chemistry.
There is plenty of charm in Big Trouble in Little China. The character played by Russell is strong, fearless, and ready to take on anything that gets in his path. He leaves behind destruction without a second thought. Yet he is also charming and charismatic.
The acting is good overall, showing the diversity of the main characters. Those that know Russell and Cattrall from other movies can see their acting abilities shining through.
Some of the scenes in the movie are predictable or downright cheesy. Yet some of those moments are quite entertaining.
Kurt Russell in the movie Big Trouble in Little China is quite a bit younger, as the movie is from 1986. It is one of his bigger hits, it is light-hearted and worth watching.
